Turkey, within the framework of international co-operation, follows the international activities on environmental protection by being party to the conventions on one hand and by participating in the operations of international institutions on the other. According to the Article 90 of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey on agreements, international agreements which are put into effect in the proper procedure, have the force of law. Thus, the legal force of the agreements and protocols to which Turkey is a party equals to that of Turkish Law of Environment in the interior legal system.
