Spectacular Amphora Collection featured in Mersin

As one of the Mediterranean cities with a deep-rooted historical and cultural heritage, Mersin also draws attention for its museums. Housing the world's richest collection of amphora, the Arslan Eyce Taşucu Amphora Museum showcases artifacts belonging to a variety of epochs from the 8th century BC to the present day. The amphorae, which are two-handled storage jars with sharp pointed bottoms and large oval bodies, were mainly produced during the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Era. The artifacts can be visited today in the Silifke district of Mersin province.
