Turkey Won Top Tourism Awards
World Travel Awards ranked Turkey's southern port of Izmir as Europe's Leading Cruise Destination, while selecting the country's Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism as Europe's Leading Tourist Board.
Turkey saw 31.5 million foreign tourists visit in 2011, and the city of İstanbul was ranked the world's fifth most popular tourist destination in 2012 in a recent report by credit card firm MasterCard.
Turkey's resorts earned the majority of awards, with the Concorde De Luxe Resort being ranked as Europe's Leading All-inclusive Resort, the Hotel Les Ottomans as Europe's Leading All-Suite Hotel, the Adam & Eve Hotels Belek as both Europe's Leading Couples Resort and Europe's Leading Design Hotel, the Angel's Peninsula as Europe's Leading New Luxury Hotel, the Mardan Palace as Europe's Leading Luxury Hotel and the Mardan Palace Antalya Royal Suite as Europe's Leading Presidential Suite, the Kemer Resort Hotel as Europe's Leading Family Resort, the Cornelia De Luxe Resort & Spa as Europe's Leading Golf Resort and Europe's Leading Luxury Resort.
The Antalya-based Sky Airlines meanwhile was rated Europe's Leading Charter Airline, while the travel firm GTI was ranked Europe's Leading Tour Operator.

Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism is given the award, "Europe's Leading Tourist Board", and Izmir is given the award of "Europe's Leading Cruise Destination". Zeugma Mosaic Museum is also given the award of "TripAdvisor The Certificate of Excellence" and Istanbul gets the award of "Destination of the Year" in World Travel Awards.
Turkey gets a lot of awards, which mean dignity and quality all around the world, within the scope of World Travel Awards.
According to the written statement made from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in World Travel Awards 2012 Europe accepted as the Oscars of tourism, Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism is given "Europe's Leading Tourist Board". Izmir, on the other hand, gets the award of "Europe's Leading Cruise Destination", by getting ahead of its competitors such as Amsterdam, Athens, Cannes, Copenhagen, Dubrovnik, Lisbon, Oslo, Reykjavik, St. Petersburg and Venice.
One of the most prestigious awards of international tourism sector, World Travel Awards gave Turkey 15 awards totally.
On Tripadvisor, one of the world's leading travel websites gave the award of "The Certificate of Istanbul" of 2012 to Zeugma Mosaic Museum.
