It boasts an impressive ancient Hellenistic theatre, which is known as one of the most important ones and the largest in the area overlooking the sea.
The long stretch of sandy beach for a few kilometers outside the old town, known as 'kumköy' or 'sand village', has become the centre of tourism development in the town and nowadays is a home for to large four and five star hotels with a good quality self-catering accommodation.
